WIPO Launches Its First Global Forum on Intellectual Property and Artificial Intelligence
On November 9 and 10, 2026, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will host the inaugural Global Forum on IP and AI in Geneva, in a hybrid format allowing participation both in person and remotely.
This free event, open to all, represents an evolution of the WIPO Conversation on Intellectual Property and Frontier Technologies, which was launched in 2019.
The Forum will bring together experts, policymakers, businesses, and intellectual property professionals to discuss the legal and strategic implications of AI across all areas of IP, including patents, copyright, trademarks, industrial designs, and trade secrets.
The program will feature a combination of informative presentations and high-level panel discussions covering key and recurring topics, including:
• Global regulatory and legislative developments
• Recent case law and international trends
• Issues relating to inventorship, authorship, and AI-assisted creation
• Challenges surrounding training data and AI-generated content (AI inputs and outputs)
This Forum represents a major initiative to support the international discussion on the impact of artificial intelligence on intellectual property, innovation, and creativity.
