UAE Strikes a New Chord in IP Protection

The UAE is taking another significant step toward strengthening its intellectual property framework and supporting its creative economy.

Effective December 1, 2026, businesses and organizations that use copyrighted music commercially across the UAE will be required to obtain the appropriate licenses and pay music royalties under the newly introduced Collective Management in Music Guide, issued pursuant to Ministerial Resolution No. 136 of 2026.

This new framework brings the UAE more closely in line with established international copyright practices and aims to ensure that composers, songwriters, performers, producers, and music publishers are fairly compensated for the commercial use of their works.
