Singapore Announces Upcoming Official Fee Revisions

简体中文  繁體中文

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has announced revisions to its official fee schedule, particularly affecting excess claim fees for patent applications.

Current vs. New Fee Structure: Currently, excess claim fees of SGD 40 (approximately USD 31) apply per claim exceeding 20 claims when filing Search and Examination requests.  From September 1, 2025, this changes to SGD 80 (approximately USD 62) per claim exceeding 15 claims.

Response Filing Changes: Presently, no excess claim fees are charged when filing claims in response to Written Opinions or Invitations to Amend. Starting April 1, 2026, excess claim fees will be incurred during response filing at SGD 80 per claim exceeding 15 claims, provided such fees weren't already paid during examination request.

Implementation Timeline: The revised fee schedule applies only to applications filed on or after September 1, 2025.  Earlier applications remain under existing fee structure. Additionally, trademark application fees, patent and trademark renewal fees, and patent examination review report request fees have been increased.
