Hangzhou Office AI Webinar
On April 7, 2023, OBWB's Hangzhou Office held the webinar "Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property - Part 1: AI & and Patents". Many IP professionals from different countries attended the webinar.
The webinar was hosted by the Chief Representative of the Hangzhou Office, Han-Mei Tso. OBWB Global Chair, John Osha gave the keynote speech, and the Deputy General Manager of the Hangzhou Office, Jude Yi provided the Chinese commentary.
The webinar began with symphonic music generated by AI. During the webinar, Mr. Osha discussed in detail the current challenges in finding common terminology to describe AI-related inventions and had interesting interactions with the attendees during the "What is an AI-related Invention" session. Mr. Osha also shared his views and practical experience on other patent law issues related to AI, such as inventorship and sufficiency of disclosure.
During the discussion, many attendees commented that the webinar provided them with an international perspective on how AI is impacting patent practice and gave them new ideas and new ways of thinking about AI that are very helpful in their professional work. They look forward to the second part of the webinar.
"Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property - Part 2: AI and Copyright" is expected to be held in mid-June. We will be circulating a formal announcement and invitation in the near future. Stay tuned.
