Bahrain and JPO Sign MoU to Fast-Track Patents
On September 19, 2025, the Bahrain Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Japan Patent Office (JPO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement a Patent Prosecution Highway Program (PPH).
The Program is set to be launched on January 1, 2026. The PPH is a mechanism that promotes work sharing between patent offices and enables applicants to request accelerated patent processing in the national phase before participating offices. The PPH is expected to increase grant rate while also reducing filing costs.
