Sheri L. Martinelli, Ph.D.

Sheri  L.  Martinelli , Ph.D.

  • Patent Engineer
  • English
Dr. Sheri Martinelli has a strong foundation in marine acoustics, computational modeling, and software systems engineering. She brings deep technical acumen to her work as a patent engineer.

Prior to joining OBWB, Dr. Martinelli worked as a Senior Analyst in Acoustic Modeling at Ocean Associates, Inc. in Arlington, Virginia. During her tenure there, Sheri supported the NOAA Office of Protected Resources (OPR), working in close collaboration with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Center for Marine Acoustics (CMA). Her work there centered on developing an in-house ocean acoustic modeling capability to strengthen the agencies’ regulatory efforts under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).

Drawing on her background in software and systems engineering, she contributed to the design and planning of modeling frameworks, ran complex acoustic simulations, and built tools to streamline analysis.
